🎓Why Do People Get Frustrated (As a secret of Affirmation)?

According to the Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), frustration is defined as a feeling of disappointment caused by failure in doing something or by not succeeding in achieving a goal. In this sense, frustration is closely related to disappointment — the gap between expectation (ideal or goal) and reality. But is that the whole story?. If we look at the equivalent words for frustration, they are prestige and achievement. This means that this relationship is more specific to an area of aspiration.  (Why People Avoid Disappointment? April 01, 2026) and (Do You Have Prestige and Dignity? April 18, 2026)

1. Frustration as “the gap between hope and reality”

  • The classical definition: one expects something, but reality does not align.
  • Example: aiming for high grades but receiving a low score → disappointment → frustration.

2. Frustration as “blocked energy”

  • In psychology, frustration is often seen as energy or motivation that gets obstructed.
  • There is a drive toward a goal, but obstacles prevent progress, turning that energy into inner tension.

3. Frustration, “prestige” and “achievement”

  • Interestingly, synonyms of frustration include prestige and achievement.
  • Achievement: the result one attains.
  • Prestige: social recognition or status.
  • This suggests frustration is not only about personal failure, but also about failing to meet social standards or others’ expectations.

4. Frustration as “localized disappointment”

  • Frustration is often specific to the area of one’s aspiration.
  • A musician may feel frustrated not because of life in general, but because their art does not reach the ideal they envisioned.
  • Thus, frustration is situated in a particular domain of life.

🌍 Frustration Across Languages

1. Arabic: إحباط (iḥbāṭ)**

  • Root: ح-ب-ط (ḥa-ba-ṭa) — meaning to become vain, fail, or fall.
  • Related word: Isbat (إثبات) — affirmation, establishment, confirmation, strengthening.
  • Philosophical meaning: Frustration represents the paradox between affirmation and futility. What is firmly established may still collapse into failure — strength turning into emptiness. → Failure, disappointment, collapse, futility.

2. Greek: ματαίωση (mataíosi)**

  • Derived from: meta (change, beyond) + thesis (placement).
  • Related concepts: Metathesis and Metaverse.
  • In the metaverse, humans place themselves within a digital microcosm — a virtual world that merges physical and digital realities.
Here, frustration becomes an existential symbol: Here, frustration becomes an existential symbol: the act of placing oneself in a space that may be vain or futile, yet also full of potential transformation (as if we were undergoing a form of evolution. Is our taxis manifested in the destiny of becoming an animal to a human (positive) or a human to an animal (negative). This is what is related to the words: Mitosis and meiosis are two different types of cell division processes in living organisms. In short, mitosis aims for the growth and repair of body cells, while meiosis aims for sexual reproduction → Change, placement, loss of meaning, rediscovery.
  • The word frustration is also close to the word fruit. If you look at the fruit story, there is the khuldi fruit story. Khuldi fruit refers to the forbidden tree in paradise, whose fruit was eaten by Adam and Eve after being deceived by Satan. The name Khuldi comes from the Arabic word khuld, meaning eternity. Satan used this word to trick them into believing that by eating the fruit, they would become eternal beings or like angels, based on the assumption that paradise itself is eternal. The paradox lies here: if the fruit was supposed to grant eternity, why did eating it result in the opposite — expulsion from paradise and mortality? This tension highlights the deceptive logic of Satan's persuasion: he promised eternity, but the actions led to loss, exile, and impermanence. “Source” (masdar مَصْدَر) or “place of emergence” (whether past, present, or future) can be traced through the root meanings of words. For example, Majnun (مجنون), meaning “insane,” comes from the root جَنَّ (janna), which means “to cover or conceal.” From this same root we derive Jannah (paradise, a concealed garden), Janin (fetus, hidden in the womb), and Jin (invisible beings). Opening up a space of "awareness" to think about ancient humans in the theory of evolution and the figure of the Prophet Adam centers on the fundamental question: who was the first human and how did the human species originate? (Why Is It Called Trauma As The Secret of Human Life and Death? Note: Shadowed/Mirror Script
  • In languages that distinguish gender, words often reflect themselves through a mirrored system. The Arabic word مِرْآةٌ (mir’aatun), meaning “mirror,” transforms into its plural مَرَايَا (maraayaa). "This shadowed form echoes in familiar names": Mirah (Mirahmirah: Anjuk Ladang), Maria, Maraya.
  • Usually, the line of mirror writing flows from right to left, but sometimes—as in Chinese script—normal leftwards hieroglyphs can be reversed, but not the rightwards ordering of the vertically written lines,6 and mixtures of orientations of letters, words and lines of writing may be seen. Furthermore, these findings need to be interpreted with caution, as the definition of left-hand language orientation is complex, and variables include the vertical and horizontal line orientation (Vector) of writing, letters and hieroglyphs, as well as changes in written language orientation over time (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2117809/).
  • Hieroglyphics comes from the Greek words hieros (sacred) and glyphos (carving/writing). History & Origins: Developed around 3200 BC and used until the 4th century AD, primarily for formal inscriptions on temple walls, tombs, and monuments. How to Read: Hieroglyphs could be written in various directions (left to right, right to left, or top to bottom). Readers could look at "The Direction of An Animal or Human Face" to determine where to begin reading a sentence. Rediscovery: This script remained a mystery for centuries before being finally solved in the 19th century thanks to the discovery of the Rosetta Stone, examined by linguist Jean-François Champollion. The Rosetta Stone is an ancient Egyptian stone tablet containing a decree from 196 BC. This artifact has become key for historians in solving the mystery of the ancient Egyptian language because the same text was written in three scripts: hieroglyphs (for sacred texts), demotic (for everyday language), and ancient Greek. 3. Latin: frustratio

  • Original meaning: deception, disappointment, failure of expectation.
  • Adopted into English as frustration, preserving the sense of unfulfilled hope.
→ Failure, disappointment, loss of purpose.

📖 Philosophical Reflection
  • Frustration is not merely a negative emotion — it is a transitional space between affirmation and failure, reality and ideal, physical and digital. Across languages, it marks the boundary between
  • Across languages, it marks the boundary between will and reality, the moment when human strength meets its own limitation — and perhaps, its own awakening.
  • Frustration may be more than just disappointment. It can be understood as a signal — showing us the boundaries of our aspirations, the friction between personal ideals and social recognition, and the energy that demands new direction.
